Mammoth Cave

Legendary!
(That was to be read in the League of Legends announcer voice)

That's one way of describing Kentucky's natural wonder Mammoth Cave. Boasting as the world's largest known cave system this place is too large to explore all in one day. I was lucky enough to see just a portion of this behemoth cavern and it was something else!

We checked out the Domes and Dripstones tour, a two hour guided walk throughout a small portion of the cave complete with a bonus stop at the cave's Frozen Niagara portion. Our tour began with a deep descent, we traveled down over 13 flights of stairs over 300 ft underground, the sights along the way were magnificent. A word to the wise, if you're afraid of heights don't look over the edge as you travel ever downward into the pits of Mammoth Cave, the drop off is startling.

After recovering from the initial shock and wonder of entering a place that seems almost unworldly we were guided through the cave by our super friendly tour guide Bobby. Bobby was a goofy guy who was fun and informative. We learned lots of fun cave facts and saw some unbelievable sights. There's a reason this place is a national park and it's definitely worth checking out if you ever get the chance! There are also lots of fun above ground trails the park has to offer for those who prefer to stay on the surface! We found lots of new animal friends along the way including little lizards, snails and a cute turtle!

Happy spelunking to all!
