Well, we made it to April and you know what that means, it's time for my monthly Goddess Provisions review!  This month's theme was higher chakra ascension and it was a goodie. So, let's dive right in, shall we?  Kailo Organic Chakra Therapy: Crown Essence- Ok, this little scent roll-on do-dad is intoxicating, it smells like a mix of black licorice and heaven and I'm here for it. How Meditation is Transforming my Life

Image
As you might recall from my "Goals for 2018" post, I wanted to get serious about committing to a meditation practice. I'm happy to say my resolution is still going strong! I took the initiative and have been meditating almost every day since the beginning of January (aside from a few hungover mornings and out of town weekends). Surprisingly, it wasn't too hard to commit to my new habit. I began by taking 5 minutes out of my morning before getting ready. I'd prop myself up in my most ergonomic pose atop the toilet seat (lol, hey I never said it was glamorous) and focus on deep breathing in an attempt to calm my wild mind. This strategy was ok, however, I can't say I reaped too many benefits from my beginner's approach. No, the real magic began once I downloaded the Headspace app. https://bit.ly/2hyR1rZ Headspace was an app I'd been wanting to download for a long time, but my previous phone wasn't anything fancy and had little to no storag...

How to go Cruelty-Free

Image
Everything Must go! Or not... Upon making the decision to go cruelty-free things can feel a little overwhelming. As people, we have a tendency to hoard beauty, skin care products, and makeup. Much of which, unfortunately, isn't cruelty-free. So what's one to do when beginning this transition? Trash everything and start fresh? If you're able to great. However,  this would probably cause many of our bank accounts to scream and spiral into oblivion. To prevent this tragic scene, I recommend allowing products to complete their natural lifespan. Use something until it's gone, then find a new, cruelty-free replacement. https://bit.ly/2tMFIxU Sticker-Shock When I first told people I was deciding to go cruelty-free many of them had the same response, "that's so expensive though." Sure, it can get a little more pricey. On the flip-side, it totally doesn't have to be. Upon making this change you'll probably have to do some searching to disc...

March Favs.

Pacifica:  I love discovering new cruelty-free beauty brands, Pacifica is my latest obsession. My first experience with Pacifica was a nifty little product the "Rainbow Crystals Liquid Mineral Strobe" highlighter-wand which I received in the February Goddess Provisions box. After a few swipes of that bad-boy, I was hooked. I've been working hard to establish a simple skin care routine that works for me. So, I decided to go all in and purchase a few key-items from Pacifica to get my skin glowing. After browsing the online shop I ended up with 1 Crystal Youth Gem Infused Face Lotion, 1 Crystal Power Hydro Mist, 1 Gem Serum Radiant Drops and 1 Gem Water Crystal Infused Micellar Cleansing Tonic in my cart. I'll admit I dropped a little more dough on this purchase than I normally would in one sitting, but I had just gotten my tax return and was feelin' the need to treat myself. So what's the verdict? Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchases. Sadly I wasn...

Goddess Provisions March Box Review

Image
The glee of receiving a monthly surprise from Goddess Provisions has given me a reason to happily countdown the days until the next box awaits me on my doorstep. This month's box focused on Ayurvedic Wellness, an ancient Indian practice that focuses on yoga and using the elements of nature to bring balance and harmony into your life. Curious about what's inside? Take a peak below... Copper Cup- Turmeric Latte Mix: Ya'll know I love me a good latte here and there. The golden hue of this powdery substance had me intrigued from the get-go and I was excited to test it out. Prior to stirring-up this concoction I'd never had Turmeric anything so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, after reading the directions and noting the recommendation of adding honey, cinnamon and your favorite milk I figured it had to be good, and boy was it! I added a dab of honey, a sprinkle of cinnamon and a dash of almond milk. The latte was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy and a great wa...

The Best Breakfast Spots on Milwaukee's East Side

Image
There are mornings where nothing sounds better than some sizzling bacon, a fresh cup of coffee and a big-flippin' waffle. Luckily, Milwaukee has a plethora of fabulous breakfast-joints to choose from. Here are some of my favorites. The Original Pancake House on Downer: The Original Pancake House on Downer Ave is the bomb.com. I'm talking majorly delicious breakfast food, people! Now, I may be the teensyist-bit biased since I'm currently involved in a love affair with their banana french toast, however, I think the large line outside every weekend is enough to prove the city of Milwaukee is feelin' the love for the Pancake House too. Famous for their bacon pancakes and delightful coffee, this cozy little East Side favorite is the perfect place to spend your morning. http://bit.ly/2sAxlZW http://bit.ly/2Cppv54 Beans and Barley Cafe:   Where my vegetarians at? Beans and Barley Cafe on North Ave offers a variety of dishes to fit any diet, specializing in vege...

Goddess Provisions February Box Review

Image
I was anxiously awaiting my second ever box from Goddess Provisions to arrive last weekend and I was not disappointed. This month's theme was Faerie Magic, intended to help one connect with nature and enhance their zest for life. Well, I've never been too into Faeries, but I love me some nature and am ready for a little extra zest here and there! Mason's Mushrooms- No, I didn't get mailed a supply of "magic mushrooms" via the USPS, Mason's Mushrooms is a powdery blend of eight "super-mushrooms" to help boost your immune system. According to the back of the bag the blend can be steeped as a tea, mixed-in with hot chocolate or added to your favorite meal. Being the tea lover that I am I took a small scoop and added it to a cup of boiling hot water, it pretty much tasted like drinking broth. I wasn't too wild about the blend on it's own, but I think there's potential for it to be tasty when used properly.  http://bit.ly/2EkoP2H ...
