Summer Festivities!

Oh hey August!
When did you get here, nice of you to drop by so soon!

Wow, August is here already this summer has been rolling by, with lots of good memories and amazing weather to accompany them!
That being said, I cannot believe we are already in August. Nooooooo Summer come back! I can feel you slipping through my fingers and I'm not ready for you to leave just yet! The approaching time of the year in Wisconsin stirs up some weird emotions in me, because obviously like any typical "Basic" white girl... (I hate that term) I LOVE fall. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVEEEE Fall. Leaves crunching, pumpkin pie, cozy sweaters, football season, and most importantly Halloween! You're alright Fall, but you still bring Winter, which I am not ok with, but hey I guess it was never up to me.

I've been milking this Summer the best I can, and if you know anything about Wisconsin, you know we sure love our Summer festivals!

Last weekend we took a bus trip sponsored by local geek bar "42 Ale House" out to the Bristol Renaissance Faire. This was my 3rd or 4th visit to said Faire, however this time was different from the rest, because I was belligerently drunk. Our drunkenness was a bit of a shame because ultimately you miss so much of the magic the Ren. Faire has to offer, but what do you expect when you take a trip there hosted by a bar and you start drinking at 9:30 in the morning... whoops. Luckily this wasn't my first time around the block, and I also have some patchy memories from the weekend dear reader, to help you form an idea of what this place is all about.

First picture this, right on the Border of WI and IL lies a field with high gated entrances just off the highway, upon crossing the entrance you are transported to another realm of fantasy and fun. This place has so much to offer, great food... turkey legs, bread bowls filled with soup, fruit cups, and pizza! Cosplayers complete with boobage, if you're into that kind of thing ;]. Stellar entertainment featuring fire whips, balancing acts, fire juggling, jousting, sideshow acts galore! Sounds pretty legit right?

Now, to paint a picture of the Faire from the account of a drunkard...
1) Follow your crew as you all board some school buses that will instantly bring you back to your younger years of bus rides next to that creepy kid at school.
2) Continue your destiny of being extremely drunk and obnoxious while on said bus.
3) Convince the bus driver to stop both buses at a Pic N Save on account that you and two other people need to pee....
4) Resume the voyage on what seems to be a time traveling machine because you are suddenly transported to some village with Dragons, Faries and Knights in shining armor.
5) Food. Food always comes first.
6) More alcohol, Absinthe anyone?
7) Wake up laying next to the jousting field, I guess you took a nap... whoops.
8) Nurse your drunk boyfriend and friends back to health.
9) Smoke a cigar.
10) More food.
11) Return to bus and promptly pass out.

So as you may gather, my drunken experience lacked much of the charm and magic previous visits have provided, but whatcha gonna do.

If you are a bit of a geek, nerd, or you dabble in the eccentric go to the Bristol Renaissance Faire it will be right up your alley! Be sure to check out all the fun shows if it's your first visit!

Now quit reading this and go get that Summervibe on while you still can!
