Colorado Springs
Good Day!
I'm here to share the exciting, excellent and amazeballz things I saw and did in Colorado Springs. Without further adieu, I present to you, a day in Colorado Springs.
Part 1;
Wake up super duper early. Traveling from Denver to Colorado Springs takes about an hour and a half. We had a nifty tour on the Cog Railway at Pike's Peak booked at 9 a.m. so we wanted to get on the road with plenty of time to spare.

The Pike's Peak Cog Railway was a great time. It was too cold and windy the day that we went, so we were unable to go to the tippy-top of the mountain. Instead, we were taken to a portion of the railway referred to as "the Saddle". The Saddle is said to be the very spot where Katharine Lee Bates wrote "America the Beautiful" and it's easy to see why she was so inspired, it's a gorgeous view!
The Cog Railway takes you so high trees literally can't grow. I have to say, I was quite alright with not going to the mountain's summit. I was a bit nervous seeing as we were literally up thousands of feet in the air. As an added bonus, the conductor made a stop for us to get out and do a little mountain exploration on our way back down (all at your own risk, of course).
Next we checked out "Garden of the Gods" park. This may not be public knowledge, but I'm a major rock nerd. That being said, Garden of the Gods was on the top of my list since day one. This park consists of beautiful, larger than life rock formations. The atmosphere in the park is very relaxed with various hiking trails sprawling throughout the park. You can stay on the trail or do a little off-roading exploration and actually climb the rocks if you so please. We were daring enough to climb up one of the smaller formations and were rewarded with yet another gorgeous view.
Lastly, I'll leave you with a recommendation of a great place to eat. If you find yourself in Colorado Springs do yourself a favor and go to Shuga's! I found this cute little place via Yelp before we left for our trip, their page is flooded with raving 5-star reviews and it's not hard to see why. The atmosphere is cozy and charming and the food is jam-packed with flavor. Both Jake and I agreed our meals were outstanding. 10 out of 10, would recommend.
