Vortexed in Sedona

Image
Simply put, Sedona is a mystical land of magical, glorious, wonder. If you search for Arizona online chances are you'll stumbled upon some lovely pics like this... Or this... ...showcasing the spectacle that is Sedona. If you can't tell I'm really hyped up about this little piece of heaven. There are multiple reasons for my adoration of this lovely place. Firstly, I flippin' love rocks. I'm talking big ole' red rocks as pictured above, random rocks you find in the woods and beautimus crystal gems! Rocks rock! Speaking of crystal gems, Sedona is famous for their magical vortexes. Where there are vortexes there are mystics and where there are mystics there are gems! Despite my husband poking fun at me, I have a rather large collection of crystals myself. They're just so pretty and mysterious my collection keeps growing and growing. Anyways back to my story. We visited Sedona and had a lovely time. Here are some highlights from our trip! Bo

A Day in Tucson

Image
Home of the Saguaro Cactus and Old Tucson Studios welcome to the wild, wild west.  Driving through Tucson is surreal. The roads wind through mountainous hills covered in cacti. A glance over the steep mountain-edge is enough to give one a rush of anxiety. The sights are picture perfect and the city of Tucson knows it. In fact, they account for it with various areas to pull to the side for photo-ops.  After soaking up all the majestic wonder we found ourselves at Saguaro National Park. Did you know that the Saguaro cactus is found exclusively in the Sonoran Desert? Talk about being an MVP!  Per usual it was a rather toasty(by toasty I mean hot AF) day so we did much of our exploring via car. We drove through a loop in the park, getting out here and there for a short hike and of course we took a butt-load of pictures.  A bit of paranoia kicked in as we thought of all the desert creatures capable of killing us. Alas, we persisted!  After wrapping up our nation

Phoenix

Image
Go to Phoenix they said, it will be fun, they said. Alright, they weren't wrong. However, whoever said that didn't suffer the fate of travelling to Arizona in the dead-heat of summer. With temperatures soaring up to 110 degrees, our pasty Wisconsinite bodies weren't quite sure what they were in for. After purchasing a bottle of jumbo sized sunscreen and a case of water for the road, we were ready to discover what Phoenix had to offer. Below are some of my favorite sights in the area! Phoenix Public Market:  Fresh off the plane, naturally our first stop was food inspired. The Public Market has a great reputation online and was even recommended to us by a few experienced AZ travelers. The ambiance in the Public Market is trendy and welcoming. I ordered a sandwich and some of the best darn lemonade I've ever had. We hung out on the outdoor patio and soaked up a few droplets from the Six Flags style misters overhead.   http://media5.trover.com/T/54ed1419198e442f

Shakers Cigar Bar

Image
Have you ever wanted to sleep with a ghost? At Shakers you can!  No, no not like that... get your head out of the gutter. While I can't promise you any spooky suitors you can spend the night at one of Milwaukee's most famous haunted locations!  Voted the 5th most haunted bar in the entire nation, Shakers inspires curiosity in believers and skeptics alike. Built in 1894 atop an old cemetery the building was destined for paranormal activity from the beginning. Over the years it has served as a brewery, distribution center and a soda bottling company. However, things were not as innocent as they appeared. As you'll learn on the tour some of the businesses were only a front to mask mob activity led by none other than the infamous Al Capone.  Where there are mobsters there are other crooked activities too. It might come as no surprise that the upper floors of the building were home to Milwaukee's very own brothel. Lust, pleasure and tears, emotions ran hig

My 100th Post

Image
My 100th post, well this seems momentous.  A measly 100 blog entries may not seem like much to the seasoned writer but for me this feels like something worth celebrating. There are days I have the nagging feeling I should write more, but inspiration can be a tricky SOB. Luckily, there are also plenty of times when words begin to flow effortlessly from my fingertips creating some sort of wacky treat to be shared on this very domain.  https://static.tumblr.com/1df2ace841283819dd2d135a9375256f/kjwr8ge/HZYo0k4n4/tumblr_static_tumblr_static_80zqtbx2txs8wcs8woo0ksw8g_640.jpg My writing has undergone quite the metamorphosis. The literary version of Neville Longbottoming if you will. After completing two years of journalism school rereading my previous entries can legitimately be cringe inducing. Oh yes, there are grammatical eye-sores aplenty and I am totally guilty of pressing the "edit" button to atone for some of my past sins.  http://68.media.tumblr.com/0ccbdc
