Willow River State Park

Image
Sorry TLC, we went chasing waterfalls against all of your attempts to persuade us otherwise. It's sweet summer time and we all know what that means, it's camping season! We decided to shake things up this year cam at parks we haven't had the chance to explore yet. The lucky winner this time around was Willow River State Park in Hudson, WI. The drive from Milwaukee to Hudson was a whopper but we had our handy dandy podcasts to accompany us(shout-out to Beyond the Darkness). Willow River State Park's most famous attraction are the Willow River Falls and they are nothing short of epic! North-western Wisconsin is home to a plethora of waterfalls and their beauty is 5-star majestic. Something about the sound of rushing water and the spray of mist has the ability to transport you to another world. The falls are something of a hidden delight. If you were to simply drive by Willow River State Park you'd have no idea such a marvelous natural wonder was hiding behind it...

Eyeliner or Liquid Trash? A Memoir.

Image
Eyeliner is a gal's best friend.  A few months ago I began slowly purging my old icky animal tested make-up products for shiny new cruelty-free ones. Yippie! There have been wins and there have been losses along the way. See my previous post regarding said events here:  http://pinkandpurplemakesunicornbabies.blogspot.com/2017/05/cruelty-free-update.html  This morning was like any other. I winged my eyes and glossed my lips as any good beauty connoisseur would. However, our story begins a few weeks prior at my local CVS store. I was low on eyeliner and seeking a replacement bottle stat. As I perused the aisles I was naturally drawn to the Milani display, aka my newfound cruelty-free go to. The eyeliner choices were scarce. I decided to live luxuriously and snatched-up an eyeliner costing a dollar more than my usual budget(I'm a high roller, YOLO). Happy with my decision, I strolled home with a smile on my face and a skip in my step. But that was all about to change. ...

My Road Trip Essentials

Image
Road trip! There's nothing quite as excellent as going on a good ole adventure via car. Just you, your crew and the open road. Despite how thrilling road trips can be there's no denying that they can become a tad bit tiresome after a while. That's where I come in! Have no fear here are a few of my nifty tips for making your next vehicular adventure a bit more exciting! Rold Golds:  You know, the snack of pure pretzely perfection. Specifically in the mustard flavor. Everyone has their go to roadtrippin' snack and mine just happens to be these bad boys. Rold Golds instantly take me back to my childhood in the 90's. It's a well known fact that they are generally delicious but get this things have gotten even better... how you might ask? They no longer leave that powdery residue on your fingertips! Yes, I realize I sound like a crazy snack lady right about now but food is the essence of life and I have no shame! https://www.walmart.com/ip/Rold-Gold-Honey-M...

Big City Lessons

Image
Ready for some life talk? I grew up in the lovely town of Appleton, Wisconsin. With a population of 74,000 my experience wasn't quite that of  a"small town" but it certainly wasn't big city either. In the fateful year of 2011 young Jenna (aka me) decided to embark on a new adventure. I packed up my things and moved to Milwaukee. Well, 2011 was quite some time ago and I've been kickin' it city style for over half a decade now. That being said, it probably comes as no surprise that I've learned a thing or two over the years. Something I now can't imagine my life without is the glory of convenience. One major perk of my MKE east side experience is how amazingly walk-able everything is. I live 3 blocks from CVS and a fab grocery store (with a stellar bakery), I'm 5 minutes away from a hoppin' street with nightlife and snazzy food options and just in case I acquire an ailment of any kind I'm steps away from a hospital! Convenience is king an...

Louisville Nomz

Image
Who's Hungry? Louisville is the perfect place to feast on delicious dishes and sip on delightful beverages. The warm weather and constant sunshine is practically begging you to step out to the patio for an enjoyable experience. When I visited Kentucky I had the pleasure of sampling a few of these said places myself. I failed royaly and missed out on the BBQ scene but, if you're looking for something a little different check these places out. Molly Malone's: Supposedly a must see on recommendation of  J. Law's family (according to a Louisville tourism magazine I was browsing through at our AirBnB) if that piques your interest. My husband and I stumbled into Molly Malone's just before 9 p.m. looking for a bite to eat before our Waverly Hills endeavor. It was a lovely night and when we arrived several people were eating out on the patio enjoying some live music. I was a little hesitant to eat at an Irish pub but they had a large variety of foods on their menu. I e...
