Into the Outdoors

3 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!! Woahhhhh, how did this happen?!? It seems as if December has flown by. I need to kick it into gear and get into the Christmas spirit. Milwaukee continues to be snowless as ever creating seasonal confusion. Not to fear, this is nothing a bit of Christmas Vacation and Elf can't fix. In other good news I will be witnessing the cinematic excellence that is Star Wars:The Force Awakens this evening, I look forward to the Harrison Ford goodness that awaits! As I mentioned earlier Wisconsin has been unseasonably warm this December which can only lead to one thing, adventures outside!! Hoorah! A few weeks ago Jake and I checked out the Parnell Towner. The tower is one of the highlights of the infamous Ice Age Trail, totaling 60 feet high. This trail starts off with a bang, one must conquer two flights of steep stairs just to reach the base of Parnell Tower. If you love stairs I have good news for you, even more stairs await if you wish to climb the towe

Gotham

Image
We need to talk... I am addicted to Gotham. I just started watching Gotham this week on Netflix and I have become shamelessly addicted! This show is so good!! The characters are brutally twisted and ruthless, I love it. My personal favorite thus far is the Penguin, being the charming little creeper that he is. I'm only 4 episodes in, each episode is 42 minutes long which is kind of long after an exhausting day for a sleepy lass like myself, but this show has me hooked! I would definitely recommend Gotham to any Batman freak who has a soft side for the villains like me, we all know the villains got it going on! One more thing, this show doesn't go light on the gore, so if your into blood and action you'll get it! Aside from some young Bruce Wayne goodness I've been trying to cope with this gross weather, darkness by 4:25 PM... no me gusta, someone must put an end to this madness! Not to mention the enemy is making it's way towards my city... that's right

Important Brain Thoughts

Hello Friends! My deepest condolences, I have failed to write in this lovely blog for quite some time now. I have been extremely busy with my first semester in college as a returning student. That's right I'm an old freshman and let me tell you even though I'm only about 4-5 years older than my now peers I feel ancient.... wise and ancient, and awesome. ;p  Anyways, the reason I write to you today is because apparently I have been doing something that some consider revolutionary, a game changer if you will. The other day I was at work, doing my thangggg when a client asked what kind of lipstick I was wearing, requesting she not think I'm a super weirdo I said, "this is kind of weird, I use my boots like pockets so don't judge me", and I pulled out my lipstick/gloss/stuff... and to my absolute astonishment she had a light bulb moment. "ERMERGERDDD that's a great idea! I'm going to do that with my boots too now! You should blog about that!&q

Buzzzzz

Freakin' Bee's are ruining my life! Every gal darn time I try to have a nice little sit down outside a blasted bee has to buzz on over and harass me. Dear bee, Why do you love me so? Do I smell pleasant to you? Does the shirt I'm wearing attract your curiosity? I know you might be really nice but I'm just a bit terrified of you. Maybe we should get to know each other better... have a short chat and grab some coffee, we could be the best of friends. Bee what are you doing!? You stung me!! How dare you, this is why I have trust issues, we can't be friends anymore. Sincerely, Jenna ...Well that was interesting. On that note happy Thursday all! Watch out for bee's, but still be nice to them!

D.O for yo B.O

Oh Haiiiiiii, Thirsty Thursday is upon us! Who am I kidding, I rarely crack any bevs open any day of the week aside from the weekends, but you can't blame me for trying to be cool... Hello friends! It's been a while, I hope you are having a magical August thus far! Today I want to talk about something a bit random, that isn't something everyone would consider exciting, but hey, it pumps me up so let me tell you about my new little friend, TOMS deodorant!  Yup, that's right I am actually taking the time to sit down and write a post about deodorant, why? Simply because this stuff is awesome. I had read several articles in the past about regular store brand deodorant being pumped full of aluminum, clogging your pores, and using evil chemicals to stop your sweat and stench in it's track. Like most common folk I thought, "Hey, this sounds fine and dandy, but is this stuff really as magical as they make it seem? Could it be true something so natur

Sleepy Saturday. I cannot seem to keep my eyes open today, my attempts to stay hydrated with high quality H2o as my fuel this lovely Saturday morning are proving to be unsuccessful.  None the less, happy weekend to you! I hope it's filled with fun times and adventure. I am hitting up the grand state of Illinois this weekend, let's hear it for the FIBS. Just kidding... or am I. All joking aside in just a few moments I will be voyaging south and visiting some lovely places, first up on the agenda we have the Caterpillar Museum, where my boyfriend will boast the joys of mining and educate me on the lovely company that is CAT. Followed up with a trip to the IL State Fair to see Fall Out Boy!! The inner high school fangirl in me is geeking out hardcore at the moment. I was one of the emo kids in high school with posters of Pete Wentz adorning my walls complete with his glorious "guy liner" as the lovely term was coined. So that should be pretty awesome, I'll be sur

Summer Festivities!

Image
Oh hey August! When did you get here, nice of you to drop by so soon!  Wow, August is here already this summer has been rolling by, with lots of good memories and amazing weather to accompany them! That being said, I cannot believe we are already in August. Nooooooo Summer come back! I can feel you slipping through my fingers and I'm not ready for you to leave just yet! The approaching time of the year in Wisconsin stirs up some weird emotions in me, because obviously like any typical "Basic" white girl... (I hate that term) I LOVE fall. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVEEEE Fall. Leaves crunching, pumpkin pie, cozy sweaters, football season, and most importantly Halloween! You're alright Fall, but you still bring Winter, which I am not ok with, but hey I guess it was never up to me.  I've been milking this Summer the best I can, and if you know anything about Wisconsin, you know we sure love our Summer festivals!  Last weekend we took a bus trip sponsored by

Dave Narvarro is Jafar in disguise!

Image
I LOVE INK MASTER. I don't follow reality TV much but oh my sweet lanta, I LOVEEEE Ink Masters. I am shamelessly addicted and I wouldn't have it any other way. Bring on the panel of judges! Let me start off by saying this, Oliver Peck is a B.A dude. That flowing mane of glorious luscious hair, seriously man, it's so perfect, what's your secret? Then there is Dave Navarro who is basically a hardcore, living, breathing version of Jafar from Aladdin, minus being a huge butt hole trying to score with Princess Jasmine. I keed, I keed, Dave seems super cool, he's always the voice of reason when things get heated and he seems like a gentleman! Lastly there is Chris Nunez who likes to keep it real by giving the artists a does of reality each week. Part of the reason this show is so addicting are the pieces these artists create, be that good or terribly, terribly bad. I have found myself on more than one occasion being like, "oh crap, that person is stuck with

Weekend Shenanigans

Image
To quote the ever so fantastic Olan Rogers, "It's a Monday." Welcome to a new week friends! It's a Monday and that means anything crazy can go down! Question to the general public, how was your weekend? Me? Well how kind of you to ponder! I voyaged up to Kohler Andre state park for a last minute camping adventure! I didn't know too much about this park other than it's off the coast of Lake Michigan and that Kohler makes some dope bathtubs, another tidbit I was pumped to discover is neighboring town Sheboygan is the Brat Capitol of the World!!! Woah there, now that is not a title to be taken lightly! Delightful, delicious sausages, I want to nom on you all... and I did. A plethora of brats graced my mouth this weekend, garlic, taco and cheddar cranberry, ERH MERH GERDDDD so happy. Over all I ate very well on this mini trip seeing as my Mom and Step-dad joined us one night and they are wayyyyy overly prepared when it comes to food, I'm talki

Birthday Week!! Toss the confetti!

Image
Party Time!!!! Huzzahhh! Throw your hands in the air, it's my birthday week! No worries I'm not one of those people who forces everyone to celebrate their birthing for a whole week, or even worse someone who insists that it;'s "birthday month".... nah that ain't me. That being said however tomorrow is in fact my day of birth! July 23, not to brag or anything but I do happen to share a birthday with Daniel Radcliffe, which is a magical coincidence indeed, and pretty much verifies that I should be getting my Hogwarts acceptance letter any day now, never mind that I'm far beyond the age of 11. To all you astrology folks out there you know darn well that the boy wizard and I are what are referred to as Cancer-Leo cusps, in other words people who share the traits of two sun signs because they were born as the signs were transitioning from one to another. This can make for some interesting, big personalities, seeing that two signs often have VERY

City Life

Image
Howdy! As someone who often lusts over the thought of moving and starting the next big adventure in a mysterious new setting, there are some things I do love about "The Good Land" that is Milwaukee. It has become known to me recently that I may not be as big of a city slicker as I once thought I was, and that's ok! Not to mention I'm getting a little sick of that nasty "Winter" who keeps showing up and won't leave me alone for 5-6 months every year ( Nobody likes you, go away!!). However, I will say moving to Milwaukee has given me more Wisconsin pride than ever and here are some reasons why.... German Heritage: Milwaukee is loaded with some awesome odes to German Heritage. Ranging from the various beer gardens to Oktoberfest celebrations where you can sip Hefeweizen  from a stein and party with the polka band to your hearts content. Along with a good party comes those inevitable munchies, no worries they've got your back, how does a brat paired

Books, books, booookkkkkssss!

Image
D.E.A.R Time!!! That's drop errrrrthang and read to you! I'm reading this great book and I just wanted you to know... "Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children" is absolutely gripping. This is a book I had started a few years ago and never had the time to finish, just this week I finally picked it up again and boy am I glad I did! Mystery, adventure, magic and as the title states a bit of something peculiar. Bonus: there are creepy old school portraits scattered throughout the tale! Check it out and get your reading on!! As a coworker said to me earlier this week "books are good". Don't question it, just go with it! That is all. Happy almost Friday, friends. :]

Milwaukee is a weird place.

Image
What the actual what. For some situations there is no better way to describe them than "WTF mate", for rizzle. This is a story. Not just any story, but a story where I believe the culprit is either a crazed Hobo or the obvious most probable suspect.... Bigfoot. Either way it was weird and out of the ordinary, without further a do here it is, the tale. Last night around dusk, on a peaceful Sunday in July a strange happening occurred. The location was Grant Park, if you happened to read my older blog posts (thank you :D) you already know Grant Park is a supposed paranormal hot spot of Milwaukee, and an all and all excellent park! That being said, there is something off about this place, although the park is beautiful and offers a view of Lake Michigan that cannot be rivaled, something strange and eerie is going on and it seems every so often I happen to stumble right into that weirdness when it's least expected. Jake and I decided to get out and enjoy the weather

Delightful Eats and Camping Treats :D

Image
Because adventures make you hungry... Here are a few of my favorite camping meals! Breakfast: Breakin' the fast ohhhh yeah!! Wake up to some tasty eggs and kielbasa sausage straight off the griddle! What you need- *Eggs *Kielbasa/Sausage *Tinfoil pan *Non-stick cooking spray Begin by spraying the tinfoil pan because no one likes it when everything sticks to the bottom. Next, add eggs and meat then throw it on the grill or campfire. In just a few minutes SHAZAMMM, delightful, easy, nutritious breakfast. OHHHH YEAH, get that energy flowing! Lunch- Now for lunch I do confess, I tend to make it liquid half the time whilst out in the wilderness, AKA pop the top on some PBR's.... orrrr I'll be out hiking and just snack on some trail mix to hold me over until the feast that is dinner. Here is a recipe for some tasty DIY granola bars, and they only take 5 ingredients to make, what more could you want! You will need- *1/2 cup of milk *1 cup pean

Perrot State Park

Image
Greetings Earthlings! It's been awhile since I wrote you a little something, something... and I apologize! Please forgive me for you see I've been terribly busy livin' it up and having fun! :D Exploring, sunshine, adventure, s'mores and an ice cold beer... that's right I'm talking CAMPING! Camping is my true love. Waking up with the sun, getting off the grid and just doing whatever the day brings. Yesterday marked the end of my first camping trip of the summer and by golly I'm going to tell you about it. Where you ask? Perrot State Park in Trempealeu Wisconsin. GORGEOUS. How else can you sum up a place like this. Rolling bluffs, vegetation every which way and the B-E-A-UUUTIFUL Mississippi River winding about. Trempealeu is totally under-hyped. This was my second trip to Perrot and prior to that I had never heard of it. Pictures of the park on the Wisconsin State Parks website were enough to make us book a trip no questions asked, right there and then

Mysterious Creatures in Wisconsin

Image
Nothing is more fascinating to me than the unexplained. Paranormal encounters, strange happenings, and mysterious creatures, I can't get enough! There are some things we can't comprehend, surpassing our understanding of the norm. Today I want to blab about some strange creatures that have been sighted throughout Wisconsin. lindagodfrey.com The Beast of Bray Road: Lurking throughout the wooded hills and cornfields is a wolf-like creature. Shaggy, dark and menacing this cryptid is different from it's canine friends. What makes this animal special is it's ability to stand upright on it's hind legs. If that's not frightening enough for you, the creature is also reported to have lantern-like eyes and fangs that are ready to take a bite out of whatever sorry soul it encounters. Sightings of this bi-pedal wolfman have been reported for over 60 years. Most often late at night. Aside from various witness reports, Wisconsin's Werewolf was brought t

Rawrrr like a Dino

Image
Jurassic-freaken-World. This movie blows minds. Action, destruction, humor, romance and flippin dinosaurs. Yes, just yes. This is what dreams are made of people. I can finally breath again, Jurassic World is so action packed and suspenseful I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Here's a quick little overview for those who haven't experienced the glory yet... So there's this place called Jurassic World, it's an island, it's a theme park, and everyone and their grandma wants to be there. Not mention they have DINOSAURS!!! Enter Chris Pratt, who trains raptors and specializes overall in being B.A. Insert two brothers visiting their aunt on a vacation... Their aunt being a higher up at the park who gives them all the sweet hookups and she can really bust it in heels... The big bosses at Jurassic World create a new species of dinosaur as an attraction for the park, this goes poorly as this new dino is not havin' it. Mystery

Moooooooovieee Review!!

Image
Greetings Traveler!!! (That's my Claptrap impression) Last night I saw a movie... and I do believe a review is in order, the name of the film you ask? Insidious 3 !!!! AHHHHH (que obnoxious ear destructing orchestra music) Honestly, I didn't know they were coming out with another Insidious movie. I was nomming on some delicious froyo when I saw the trailer. Shout-out to froyo, you never let me down! $5 movie Tuesday happened to rolled around and off to the theater we went. With a cupcake and cookie smuggled in my purse we were good to go! Fact about me: It's my ritual to sneak in food some notable smuggles include: sushi, cottage cheese and an entire sheet cake... stealth-mode activated(also ew, cottage cheese). Insidious 3. I really, really liked this movie! I enjoyed the third chapter more than the first and second combined. The super jumpy crowd I watched it with helped enhance the experience. Who doesn't love hearing a terrified, "uhhhh uhh" or

Uber Deliciousness Healthier Margarita Recipe :D

Image
Here it is the delightful margarita recipe I was raving about... What you'll need -Tequila -Limes -Agave -Sea Salt The simplicity of this is fantastic. Step 1 -Salt that rim!! Take some salt, pour it on a plate and cover the rim of your glass with it! The salty sweet combo is savory and magical in your mouth. Step 2 -Crush up some icy ice if you so please, crush it up good you gotta keep that tasty drink chilled,yo! Step 3 -Squeeze in that lime juice! Limes are delightful and delicious, their flavor flav will make your taste buds happy! I used 1 lime per drink, but hey knock yourself out, get as limey as you'd like! Step 4 -In goes 2 ounces of that beauty we call tequila. Step 5 -Add a dash of Agave, I measured it out using a spoon! 1-2 spoons worth tasted just right for me. That's it, you're done! Now have yourself a seat and sip on that tasty drank you just created! It's easy, it's healthier, it's a fiesta for all!!

Mernnnnday

it's Monday!! The ever dreaded day is upon us, that's alright though it's not so bad. without Mondays the weekend wouldn't be so sweet! Speaking of weekends, I hope you had a great one! Mine was splendid and action packed! We kicked our weekend off with an early morning hike at a mysterious park tucked away in Muskego WI. It reminded me of something out of Left 4 Dead. Overgrown trails, abandoned boarded up buildings and not another soul in sight. Apparently the land was bought by the DNR and they're letting nature take over. Although it was a bit eerie the park made for some good exploration! In other news in Milwaukee County, this past Saturday marked the first annual Paranormal Conference! Hats off to them! I am an extreme paranormal enthusiast, so this event was a dream come true for me. Awesomely enough the organizers of this event wanted it to be free for everyone and anyone to join! The day went something like this... Speakers with topics rangin

The Odd Coincidence

Image
Hey there frandsssss.  So lately it seems I keep hearing about sleep paralysis, I saw an article about it on Buzzfeed earlier this week and just yesterday I was at a paranormal convention where the topic was briefly mentioned. I find this to be an odd coincidence, especially being someone who has personally suffered from what I believe to have been sleep paralysis multiple times... If you don't know what sleep paralysis is and you haven't started googling it already I'll give you a quick briefing. Sleep paralysis happens either right before falling asleep or right as you are waking up. When we sleep our brain kind of sends our bodies into stand by so we don't act out our dreams resulting in things like sleep walking and thrashing around in our sleep. When sleep paralysis occurs your body is in this numb "paralyzed" state, causing you to be unable to move or speak which is completely frightening because sleep paralysis goes hand in hand with very te

Spooky Tales

Image
Greetings! For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated by the unknown. I was that creepy kid in elementary who checked-out the books on the Salem Witch Trials as I tried to record EVPs on my crappy tape recorder. Honestly, now that I've grown up I can't say much has changed. I still lust over the mystery of urban legends, tales of hauntings and wandering spirits. Luckily, I'm not one to say no to adventure. Wisconsin is home to many strange things. I've been fortunate enough to find a few crazy companions who enjoy embarking on "Haunted Adventures" together. These are a few of my favorites.  One of the most infamous spooky places in my hometown of Appleton, Wisconsin is Kate Blood's grave. Granted, with a last name like Blood poor Kate was destined to be met with superstition after passing to the other side. Today, Kate's grave is rumored to be a paranormal hot-spot. The most popular version of the Blood tragedy claims that one day Kate w
